At KAYA & OLIVIA, most pieces are made in 316L stainless steel, with 18-karat gold plating applied using PVD technology. Our selection also includes 925 silver pieces with rhodium plating.
316L stainless steel is known for its corrosion resistance. PVD technology makes it possible to apply coatings with good wear resistance, while 925 silver brings the character of a precious metal, with its own care needs.
But there's an important difference between water-resistant and waterproof.
Not all jewellery reacts the same way to water. The material, the coatings, the decorative elements and contact with chlorine, salt or toiletries can all affect how long a piece lasts.
That's why knowing what each piece is made of, and following its care recommendations, makes all the difference.
